Product information "Bonga Forest coffee, organic & fair trade"
What does it taste like?
Its delicious aroma and fruity sweetness with a subtle spicy note and a refreshing flavour make for a perfect start to the day. The mild acidity completes its wonderful flavour.
Where does it come from?
The Bonga Forest coffee variety is native to western Ethiopia, in the "Bonga" region of the same name. The people of Kaffa are proud of their coffee, whose name is derived from the region. Our KAFFEE PURA Bonga coffee is exported by the Fekadu family, who have been in the coffee business for over 20 years. With the skills and knowledge passed down from generations. Mr Fikadu has worked as a supplier for other exporters. Now, due to the liberalisation of the export business in Ethiopia, he exports his coffee himself and also works with other farmers from the region in an outgrower system.
How is it processed?
The Bonga coffee beans are ( natural) naturally processed and exclusively sun-dried. The coffee beans are only picked by hand - although this is very time-consuming and labour-intensive, it guarantees a very high level of quality. The coffee beans are processed dry, i.e. the pulp of the coffee cherries is only removed after they have been dried in the sun. They are sorted and then dried for 15-18 days on drying beds located on steep slopes that are exposed to strong winds. Due to the dry processing, the Bonga Forest impresses with a very intense aroma, a sweet flavour profile and a very distinctive fragrance as well as a variety of fruity notes. A unique flavour experience!
How is it roasted?
At Kaffee Pura, we attach great importance to ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards. For this reason, we roast the Bonga Forest beans in our in-house roasting drum. In contrast to conventional hot air roasting, the drum roasting process roasts for much longer and with much less heat. The gentle roasting process significantly improves the aroma and flavour of the coffee. This process is also considered to be the most digestible method of roasting coffee.
How fair is our Bonga Forest coffee?
Our Bonga Forest coffee is certified with the organic seal. This is a quality and test seal and stands for products that characterise products from organic farming. This means that the coffee farmers are obliged to comply with certain standards and requirements, which are regularly checked. Our partners benefit from direct trade. We negotiate directly with the coffee farmers at eye level without intermediaries and pay prices that are far higher than the world market Price.
KAFFEE PURA Bonga Forest organic coffee is a 100% single-origin Arabica coffee from Ethiopia. Our coffee is certified organic and stands for direct, fair trade with Ethiopian coffee Farmers.
